Felix Stöckle

Tradition, customs, rituals and their traditions are central themes in Felix Stöckle‘s work. His artistic preoccupation with artefacts finds expression in his experimentation with craft techniques and a wide variety of materials and refers to cultural identity and its global appropriation. Mythological themes, legends of gods and heroes, ancient ornaments, personalities from religion, church and politics, war machinery and equipment as well as motifs from comic culture and digital communication are at the centre of his artistic work. Celtic symbols, weapons, pistols and assault rifles, tanks and bombers as well as cartoons and emojis are subjects that he quotes in his works. The materials used are diverse: wood, glass, ceramics, textiles.

Felix Stöckle is interested in social, cultural and political mechanisms and their changes, dynamics and interactions. He creates works of art
whose underlying narratives are translated into deliberately simple and raw images or sequences of images. These symbolise the fragility of the unstable world and the vulnerability of human relationships.

Concise and with a sharp undertone, the depictions are effective and powerful in their message.
